Se dovessimo fare un confronto tra gli italiani che vivono nel nord italia con quelli che vivono nel sud, ci troveremo difronte a due differenti persone. Le differenze sono molte e a volte anche marcate, forse rispecchiano anche l'ambiente in cui vivono le persone: il freddo, cupo ed offuscato (nebbia e smog) del nord, in contrapposizione al solare, caloroso e affettivo del sud. Le persone che vivono nel Nord Italia infatti,Sono sempre descritte come individui che vanno sempre di corsa, più focalizzati al lavoro e alla carriera piuttosto che all'apprezzare i piccoli piaceri della quotidianità che possono essere una chiacchierata col tuo vicinato o una passeggiata al lungomare. Mentre, viceversa, una persona del Sud Italia è più propensa ad andare col suo passo, a non farsi trascinare dai tempi dettati dalla routine, e quindi "a perdere" quei cinque minuti in più per due chiacchiere al bar o con i propri familiari.
Il concetto che si ha della famiglia, è forse la differenza più marcata tra i due: al sud i parenti non finiscono mai, così come i pranzi/cene che si fanno tutte le domeniche o per le festività. Tutti sono riuniti intorno allo stesso tavolo e quindi ci si ritrova tra zii e cugini di differenti gradi a cui si vuole bene come se fossero dei fratelli; mentre al Nord gli affetti sono più ristretti e le famiglie a volte più divise.
Se da una parte (sud) si vorrebbe quindi che queste riunioni familiari non finissero mai, dall'altra (nord) si spera che quest'impiccio non ti rubi troppo tempo poiché l'aperitivo con gli amici non può aspettare.
Un'altra differenza sostanziale è come i due tipi di persone si rapportano con gli ospiti e con gli sconosciuti. Al sud si è trattati come uno di famiglia quando si è ospitati e non si ha timore o non si pongono barriere quando si parla con uno sconosciuto, mentre al nord si è sempre troppo occupati per dedicare un minuto per chi chiede un'informazione stradale o non si ha mai niente in casa per invitare qualcuno a casa per condividere un pasto insieme.
Una cosa che accomuna tutti però c'è, ed è il senso di appartenenza al proprio territorio: un napoletano è super orgoglioso di essere nato a Napoli ed anche un "terrone" è fiero di venire dal Sud Italia, così come un Veneto è orgoglioso di essere un padano o comunque un "pulentone" è fiero di vivere nel Nord Italia.
In conclusione possiamo dire che sia chi vive al Nord che chi vive al Sud sono le persone più fortunate del mondo in quanto vivono in Italia, che è il paese più bello del mondo.
If we were to make a comparison between Italians from Northern Italy, to those from the south, we would find ourselves in front of two completely different people. The differences are many and sometimes even marked, perhaps a result of the environment in which they live: the cold, dark and blurred (fog and smog) of the north, as opposed to the sunny, warm, and emotional south. The people who live in Northern Italy, in fact, are always described as individuals who are always in a rush, more focused on work and their career rather than appreciating the small pleasures of everyday life, something as simple as a chat with your neighbour or a walk along the promenade. Whereas, on the other hand, a person from Southern Italy is more inclined to life at his own pace, not to be carried away by routine times, and then "lose" those five minutes more for a chat at the bar or with his family.
The concept of family life, is perhaps the most marked difference between the two: in the south the relatives never end, as well as the lunches / dinners that take place every Sunday or for the holidays. All are gathered around the same table and then find themselves among uncles and cousins of different grades whom are loved as if they were brothers; while in the North the affections are more restricted and families are sometimes more divided.
If on the one hand you were from the south, you would never want these family gatherings to end, but, on the other, as a northerner, it is commonly hoped that tedious reunions can be over with quickly, since you simple cannot be late for the aperitif you have planned with friends that same day.
Another substantial difference is how the two types of people relate to guests and strangers. In the south, a guest is treated as if they were family when greeted, and there are no restrictions or barriers when talking to a stranger. While in the north, people are simply too busy to waste a minute of time on those who ask for directions, or an excuse is always made to avoid having to invite someone home to share a meal together.
There is one thing that unites everyone, however, and it is the sense of belonging to their own territory: a Neapolitan is super proud of being born in Naples, and even a "terrone" (a somewhat derogatory term used to describe Southern Italians) is proud to come from the south of Italy, just as a “Veneto” (someone from Venice) is proud to be a “padano” (somebody from the Padania region), or a "pulentone" (someone who eats polenta, typical in the Northern regions of Italy) is proud to be from the North.
In conclusion, we can say that both those who live in the north and those who live in the south are in fact the luckiest people in the world, because regardless of their differences, they both live in Italy, which is the most beautiful country in the world.
